Cultural Understanding

From museum talks and drum workshops to artistic performances and Black History Month events, Jack and Jill children are exposed to some of the historical building blocks of complex and evolving relationships between people, communities and culture.

Civic Engagement

If you pick up your phone and are greeted by a young voice, it may be that of a Jack and Jill'er volunteering for a get-out-the-vote drive.  Service-learning starts early in Jack and Jill, through experiences designed to help the children identify and address issues of public concern.

Social/Recreational Exploration

Children involved in Jack and Jill often develop lifelong friendships by doing what kids do best - playing.  Pool parties, Halloween bashes, teen dances and Jack & Jill family camp are among the venues for sharing values, celebrating differences and building strong bonds.

Educational Enrichment

Jack and Jill brings meaningful educational events to its children to connect them with new passions, to help them find their inner leaders and to encourage a lifetime of  financial literacy, personal development and community stewardship.

Health + Self-Care Development

Throughout the year, the children of Jack and Jill explore conditions critically impacting African American health  - e.g. heart disease, sickle cell anemia and stroke - and develop strong tools for effective prevention and self-care.
